We’re excited to be able to show off a beautiful maternity photoshoot that we did this past holiday session for Lauren and Bobby. They are an amazing couple and we know that they are going to make some badass parents in the near future! I have known Bobby since we were boys in elementary school and met Lauren for the first time at our highschool, Antonian College Preparatory. It was truly a pleasure to have the opportunity to capture some amazing maternity photos for them that they will be able to hang on the walls of their home.

From the very first photograph, we knew that Phil Hardberger Park was one of the best rustic photography locations in all of San Antonio. As you’ll see, Phil Hardberger Park is a hidden gem in the heart of San Antonio that provides a picturesque Texas countryside but also a romantic ambiance for the perfect rustic maternity session. The wooden buildings and pier at the Urban Ecology Center added to the maternity photos and really drove home the rustic theme that Bobby and Lauren were looking for. The open grass fields in Phil Hardberger Park were the perfect final touches to an amazing session. We were able to capture some jaw-dropping sunset photographs of Lauren in her flowy, maternity gown at the conclusion of their maternity session.

San Antonio Riverwalk Engagement Session | Kimberly + Robert

K imberly and Robert’s San Antonio Riverwalk engagement session was definitely a beautiful sight to behold. There is nothing better than when you pair the perfect Texas sunrise with an amazing couple! The only thing more breath-taking than the sunrise was hearing about Kimberly and Robert’s history. SoHo Wine & Martini Bar was the spot where their love story first began and was the location that Kimberly and Robert had their first date. So it only seemed right that it would be the perfect location to capture their love for one another before they become husband and wife. The San Antonio Riverwalk also provided us with the perfect backdrop because of its rustic décor and overall industrial theme.

T he San Antonio Riverwalk is absolutely gorgeous in the early morning right as the sun is rising. There isn’t very many people walking around which is perfect for us to be able to capture some amazing photographs of Kimberly and Robert on the iconic San Antonio Riverwalk bridges. From the beautiful lighting to the amazing greenery falling from the trees above. This would set the scene for one of the most epic engagement sessions that we have had the pleasure to do in downtown San Antonio. There is almost too many places downtown to be able to narrow them down to just a couple. From the bridges on the Riverwalk to the cute waterfalls aside the pathways there were almost too many places to choose from! Our last stop for the day was at one of our favorite locations in all of San Antonio, Hays Street Bridge! The bridge overlooks the entire San Antonio skyline and leaves us in awe everytime that we photograph there. What better way to end an epic engagement session than at another one of San Antonio’s most icon spots. From sunrise to early morning there were so many amazing moments that we were blessed to have captured that perfectly illustrates the unconditional love that Kimberly and Robert have for one another. We can’t wait to be a part of their wedding day this coming December!

McNay Art Museum Wedding | Alyssa + Patrick

A lyssa and Patrick’s wedding was definitely one for the ages! It was a warm, sunny Texas day and the perfect weather for an amazing wedding. We started the day off with Alyssa and her lively bridal party as they got ready at the DoubleTree Hotel in San Antonio. The girls were wearing gorgeous chiffon dresses that played well with their romantic wedding theme. Alyssa looked absolutely stunning in her gem-encrusted wedding gown from David’s Bridal and her makeup by Mistique Salon. The button back detail and mesh bust were the cherry on top of an already beautiful dress silhouette. There were so many precious moments that can’t be worded in a way to do them justice (but photos definitely help!) While my husband and I were shooting photos of the bridal party getting ready, we found out that Alyssa and Patrick had written letters for each other to read prior to them saying “I do”. What Alyssa didn’t know was that Patrick had planned a pint-sized surprise to make their wedding day even more memorable. After reading Patrick’s emotional letter, Alyssa was given an envelope and what was inside left everyone around her on the verge of happy tears. She opened the envelope to find a photo of their brand new baby puppy, Theodore! There was a ton of emotions from crying to laughter, but one thing was for sure: this would set the stage for one of the most epic weddings that we have had the pleasure to experience.

W hen we first arrived at the wedding chapel the most serendipitous thing happened that even surprised us. We were able to take their first look photographs in the EXACT place where Patrick and Alyssa first met! The couple shared a special prayer in the same desks where their high school romance first began. The tears would continue to fall after we did an emotional father-daughter first look that didn’t leave a single dry eye in the crowd.

T he wedding ceremony took place in the Antonian College Preparatory chapel and was an absolutely gorgeous backdrop for this intimate wedding. From the wedding march, to Patrick seeing Alyssa in her wedding dress for the first time, you could see the love that Patrick and Alyssa had for one another. The second he saw her, he couldn’t take his eyes off her. What made the ceremony even more meaningful was the fact that the wedding party had been a part of their journey to get to this amazing day since most of them graduated together. Their first kiss was a total celebration of their love and Alyssa took a quick moment to celebrate before they walked down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Ramirez for the first time.

T he wedding reception at the McNay Art Museum was absolutely breathtaking. The museum itself provided us with one of the most amazing backdrops for their formal photos. We were able to capture some of the most stunning photos that we have ever taken. From the wedding décor, lighting, to the magnificent wedding cake by Creation Cakes; no detail was left untouched. The uplighting on the walls and large floral arrangements (San Antonio Floral Designs) really set the ambiance for the venue. The live band (Finding Friday) made sure that the party kept going all the way to the very last song. From their first dance to the end of the evening there was one thing that was made perfectly clear: Patrick and Alyssa were meant for one another. We are proud to welcome Alyssa into our #BenitesBrides family! Anthony and I wish you all nothing but the best in your adventure together!

The Historic Pearl Brewery Bridal Session | Alyssa

A  lyssa’s bridal session was an absolute show stopper! There isn’t anything that could compare to the opportunity that we were blessed with to be able to photograph one of our beautiful brides, Alyssa, at one of San Antonio’s most iconic locations, The Historic Pearl Brewery. The Pearl Brewery was the perfect backdrop for this session because it is one of the places in San Antonio that means a lot to Patrick and Alyssa’s history. From her gorgeous dress to her radiating smile there was nothing that could make this day more perfect! The pearl brewery provided us with the perfect blend of modern architecture with a rustic and industrial ambiance. From secret alleyways to gorgeous bridges overlooking the riverwalk there were almost too many locations to choose from.

O ne of our favorite moments came when we were walking to shoot at a special location when something amazing happened… the light was absolutely perfect during golden hour and looked absolutely breathtaking to witness so we stopped dead in our tracks and set up for an epic photo. We were in the middle of the walkway and literally stopped traffic but it was more than worth it! Pedestrians couldn’t help but take photos of us and Alyssa. I can’t tell you how many people stopped by and just wanted to say congratulations to Alyssa and tell her how beautiful she looked in her dress. This truly was one of the best bridal sessions that we could ever ask for and experience. Make sure to keep your eyes out and check out Alyssa and Patrick’s wedding blog post as soon as it releases!

Ashley + Daniel Texas Sunset Engagement Session

A scenic ride down a small, backcountry road lead us to a truly one of a kind Texas Sunset Engagement Session location. Nestled in the small town of Pleasanton, Ashley and Daniel’s country home created the perfect all natural, rural backdrop for some gorgeous engagement portraits. As we came up the drive, we noticed an old saw mill, a large metal windmill, and a rusty old tractor with such a stunning natural patina that we couldn’t help but snap a few pics! You couldn’t take more than a handful of steps without running into another unique photo opportunity. After scanning the property, we couldn’t help but notice an empty field that was begging to get in on the photo action. Little did we know that someone else wanted in on the fun. As we posed, kissed, and laughed; a visitor we lovingly dubbed “Moo Moo;” came to steal the show for a few shots. After she felt her good side was captured, she let us be and had a few choice words for a water bottle that stood in her way. The sun was setting and the winds grew stronger, but we weren’t ready to call it a day just yet. Let’s be honest: nothing beats a stunning Texas sunset!

Pearl Brewery Engagement Session | Stacey + Alex

San Antonio Riverwalk Engagement Announcement Idea

S tacey and Alex engagement session at Pearl Brewery was an absolutely breathtaking session! They opted for the Pearl Brewery for their because it’s a very beautiful outdoor location that they loved and have shared many memories together over the years. The lovely couple met at Holy Cross high school and have been together ever since. As we talked, I soon realized that her brother and I had been friends for years prior to us meeting. The world truly is a small place! Throughout our entire session, one thing became very evident: Stacey and Alex’s love for one another is both beautiful and sincere! Whether it’s through a simple look or a candid smile, the love they have for one another really shines through in their photos.

T he Pearl Brewery was the perfect backdrop for this engagement session because it has so many beautiful textures and building materials to really showcase a modern and urban themed session. It also provided Stacey and Alex a huge variety of different locations ranging from the urban market to the lively San Antonio river walk. Each and every location offered backdrops that allowed us to capture some high contrast photos that really brought their session to life.

Eilan Hotel and Spa Bridal Session | Esmeralda

E smeralda bridal session at Eilan Hotel and Spa in San Antonio was one of the most breathtaking bridal sessions that we have ever done! Everything just seemed to align correctly on this perfect day: the forecasted rain stayed far away and the lighting was absolutely perfect!  Esmeralda’s hair and makeup were gorgeous. The wedding bouquet gave the photographs a vibrant pop of color that were a sharp contrast to her white wedding gown. We had the pleasure of meeting her amazing family for the first time and let me tell you that they’re awesome.

1. Enjoy Your Wedding Day

1. Enjoy Your Wedding Day

I know that it seems like a really dumb thing to remind you to do on your own wedding day, right? The reason we always tell our brides to enjoy their wedding day is because it literally “flies by” on the day of your wedding. Remind yourself that you prepared for the day to the best of your abilities and on that beautiful day that you say “I Do” don’t let anything keep you from enjoying it!

3. Eat a Snack Before You Put Your Dress On

3. Eat a Snack Before You Put Your Dress On

We don’t want any fainting around here! Sometimes weddings get so busy that couples don’t even have time to eat their own dinner, so it’s important to carry and have a snack ahead of time just in case you don’t have time to eat throughout the day. You’ll probably be hungry after the wedding is all over too. You can check with the caterer to pack you an extra meal for later so you have something to take back with you to the hotel room.

Really! I’ll keep us on schedule as much as possible, but your job is to enjoy and have a blast during your wedding day. If that means things run a little late because you’re having a great time, then so be it! We’re gonna be there as long as you are so there is no need to stress about timing.

6. Review Your Dress Bustle

6. Review Your Dress Bustle

Believe it or not this is one of the biggest “time-sucks” I’ve ever seen at weddings! It’s probably been awhile since you picked up your dress and tried out the bustle. Some dress shops give instructions for the bustle and some don’t. Figuring out a bustle on the day of a wedding can take up to 30 minutes, so try it out beforehand and make sure you know how it works and that a bridesmaid or family member does too.

7. Hold Hands During Your Ceremony

7. Hold Hands During Your Ceremony

This is probably a weird tip right? Sometimes people forget to remind you to focus on the little things, but it looks super awkward during your ceremony photos if you are standing 5 feet apart and not touching somehow. We encourage (and look for) the little giggles, small glances, and romance during the ceremony. Holding hands make pictures look much more intimate.

Try to keep your flowers in water for as long as possible. If you do photos beforehand, take them, and then put them back into the water before the ceremony. Nothing kills bouquets faster than holding them for ages before the ceremony and walking down the aisle with wilted flowers.

If the caterers or the baker don’t tell you how to cut the cake before you dive into it, just ask me! I’ve seen (and cut) dozens of wedding cakes and I can show you quickly before the moment how to do it correctly.

All too often couples rush through the little details that we love to see: zipping up the dress, walking down the aisle, cutting the cake, etc. The faster you go, the less opportunities we have to take the perfect shot. Slow down and enjoy all the precious moments of your big day.

Gruene Texas Engagement Session | Esme + Ray

E sme and Ray Gruene Texas engagement session was beyond awesome! We shared so many laughs that it made the session feel like it flew by because it was so much fun. The session started off super windy but soon calmed down and left us with the perfect backdrop for their spring engagement session. We spent the entire morning learning more about this amazing couple and soon thereafter realized that we shared a lot of things in common.

W hen we weren’t talking or laughing I was spending time unhinging gates by accident! Opps!! We had a huge laugh at my expense because sometimes the easiest things like pulling a gate door in the right direction turns into me unhinging a door and watching it fall apart! We are beyond excited to have the privilege to know Esmeralda and Ray. We look forward to photographing their beautiful rustic wedding this summer!

W hat could be better to do on Valentine’s day than to photograph a beautiful engagement session? My wife and I had such an amazing time this past weekend photographing Kacie & Chris’ Valentine’s Day Engagement Session in Cibolo. We knew from the moment that we met this amazing couple that we were going to have a blast! We can’t think of a single moment when Kacie and Chris weren’t smiling or laughing throughout the entire session.

W e love and appreciate when our couple’s go above and beyond to capture beautiful photographs! Let us be the first to say that Kacie and Chris were no exception to the rule. We all braved the cool weather and water in order to get some beautiful photographs that were totally worth being frozen! We are so excited for their wedding this coming November and can’t wait to capture some more beautiful moments during their big day!

Cibolo Nature Center Engagement Session | Veronica + Isaac

Cibolo Nature Center Photo Ideas

T he fall season is in full effect! This past weekend my wife and I were very fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to travel to Boerne for Veronica and Isaac’s engagement session. The fall foliage was the perfect backdrop for this beautiful rustic session. Veronica and Isaac were a blast to get to know. We were able to learn a lot more about them and hear stories about their beautiful children. We are so excited for their upcoming rustic themed wedding at the Canyon Springs Golf Resort this December.

Hay’s Street Bridge Engagement Session | Natalie + Rick

Hays Street Bridge Photography

N atalie and Rick’s engagement session occurred early this past Saturday morning. It was the perfect weather to capture some beautiful engagement photographs. The Hay’s Street Bridge provided us with the unique urban backdrop to an amazing fall engagement session. We are absolutely in love with the way that the photographs represent the connection between Natalie and Rick. This session never had a dull moment! Rick and Natalie made us laugh so hard with all of their funny antics and jokes. We are extremely excited to be going to Uvalde this November in order to photograph this couple’s beautiful wedding day. We hope that you love these photos as much as we do!
