Back in the Day

My wife and I first met in the middle of the Antonian College Preparatory gym. Whether it was her competitive nature, hardheadedness, awesome sense of humor or her amazing smile; I knew the more time I spent with her that I wanted her to be a bigger part of my life. I spent every day trying to get her attention and she would always roll her eyes and think I was just a goofball. I spent the next year working to get her attention and eventually one day I finally got the nerve to ask her out.

Start of Our Adventure

Our adventure began the day that Marisa asked me if I would follow her to college in South Carolina. Our story didn’t start off as a fairy tale by any means. I had to drive my car with both Marisa’s and my belongings across the country through hurricane force winds and rain in New Orleans. So many things happened in those four years that solidified our bond with one another. From watching her play the game she loves to getting our first puppy, Sadie Mae (aka Fats). I haven’t gone a single day without thinking about her.

From "Me" to "We"

The long pursuit for the perfect ring then ensued. While I knew the ring I chose would be enough for her, I believed that she deserved more. Thus, the plan for a grand proposal began. The plan was to send her on a scavenger hunt like I did when I first asked her out. First, she would go shopping for a new outfit, after that I had her best friend give her my notes that eventually lead her the spot where I first laid eyes on her: the Antonian gym. I had her path lit up by hundreds of floating candles and as she walked through the gym she found her last note that told her to look for the lights. I flipped a switch and the lights read “Marry Me Piglet.”

Where We Are Today

Shortly after the engagement we graduated from Charleston Southern University and decided to move back home to San Antonio. We had a ton of things going on, but most importantly I was going to be marrying my dream girl. We got married on July 26, 2014. That night was one of the most amazing nights of my life. I still remember a moment when Marisa decided to go on the dance floor with her best friends and I thought to myself at that moment that I was the luckiest man in the world to call her my wife. From a boy that was too afraid to talk to the girl he liked, to marrying the woman of his dreams. Life is amazing.

Driving Force Behind Our Success

Where we are today is definitely not where we thought we would be after graduating college with our degrees. (but in a good way!) Soon after we got married I made the decision that I wanted to officially launch our first company, Robert Benites Photography. It was a whirlwind of learning curves and adventures. The only thing that I knew was anything was possible when I am with Marisa. Fast forward to the present day, we are now in an amazing transition within our lives and careers. We have decided to change our name from Robert Benites Photography to Anthony & Marisa. I thought it was about time to bring Marisa in the fold after she put in more time into the business and her passion for photography grew. We are also expanding our business from just photography to a full blown marketing and advertising agency. While the name might have changed, the people that make it up are still the same. We look forward to the adventures that are yet to come and to getting to meet each of you all and helping you grow your business while building our relationship.
